I enjoy working with a wide variety of students from complete beginners to advanced players. The youngest student that I currently teach is 10 years old through to my most senior who is retired. I regularly enter pupils for ABRSM and Trinity Grade examinations where I have a long success record of pupils passing, many achieving distinction. Additionally, my knowledge of GCSE and 'A' Level performance requirements and marking critieria enables me to offer advice on choosing the correct piece and help candidate prepare ensuring the maximum number of marks for accuracy, interpretation and ensemble skill can be achieved.

Having played as a professional oboist for thirty four years, I am very keen to give the student the best start in learning one of the most beautiful and expressive instruments of the orchestral woodwind section. I believe that every student should be able to produce a beautiful sound from the very first lesson, which, in turn, will encourage them to practise and to move forward more quickly. This will give the student greater pleasure whilst learning. With lessons carefully crafted to give every student the best possible start as an oboist, I ensure that the feeling of excitement and adventure stays with them every day. Help is always at hand, be it from the choice of an instrument, reeds, music, accessories, in fact whatever the problem, then I can always be reached to give my students the support they need.
