Whatever their or your goal is, you’re sure to find a private tutor in Falkirk who can provide the right guidance!

Who should have a Private Tutor?

Extra lessons are particularly popular for the purpose of helping the child secure a position in a grammar school. Even pupils who are already doing well in school may feel exam pressure, which is why parents turn to tutoring. Falkirk tutors can help pupils with difficulty grasping certain concepts that they are too shy to bring up in school. Pupils of all ages and levels, from early learning even up to university level, can also benefit from the guidance of an academic authority to develop their skills in studying and in taking exams.

I am a qualified teacher with 6 years of teaching experience. I taught EAL for 4 years in Japan, initially working with children but also working with teachers and other adults to improve their professional English. I returned to the UK to pursue a teaching qualification, and gained a PGCE through Canterbury Christ Church University and QTS, both in 2016. I spent 18 months working as a science teaching, working with Biology, Physics and Chemistry up to GCSE, and now tutor in science and EAL both online and in the Glasgow area.

Hello, and a very big welcome to Scotland Study Centre (SSC), Edinburgh! I have been teaching the English language all my life in many different and wonderful countries throughout the world. I have started SSC because I want to create a school where students can learn English and other languages in the best and fastest way possible. This means that at SSC you learn using a very different approach to traditional language schools. Traditional language schools start with traditional grammar. At SSC we start with YOU, the student, and what YOU need to do in English to meet YOUR specific academic and career goals. Traditional grammar is based in Latin, and it simply does not prepare you to use language effectively in today’s modern world. At SSC you learn REAL, modern grammar and how to use it to express the attitudes, viewpoints, and feelings you need to express to be a success in your university studies and future career. I and the SSC team look forward to teaching you! Very best tegards Anne McDonald

  • 11 Plus
Hello everyone, I'm Mary, a teacher/tutor based in South London. I have taught English for over twenty years and specialise in 11 plus, 13 plus, IELTS and Academic English. I'm sure I can help you with any of your language needs. I feel that sometimes one of the main things that makes a difference when learning a new skill is a little encouragement and I try my best to provide this and aim to be gently reassuring. I tailor-make my lessons to suit the needs of the individual and have had some great results. In my free time I write short fiction and have had many stories published in journals and magazines. I also work as a voluntary reader for a literary journal, which involves selecting pieces for publication. This is both fun and rewarding as it helps with my own writing. I also love endurance exercise and have completed several marathons and cycling events, including riding from John o Groats to Lands End last year. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. Nice to meet you!
