A Few Things to Keep in Mind When Booking Your Lambeth Maths Tutor

Where in Lambeth is the Maths Tutor?

Area, area, area, it’s so important to find the right Maths tutor in or around your area (Lambeth)! If you end up choosing a Lambeth Tutor who is difficult to get to, you’ll be less likely to attend and will end up wasting lots of time. Use the Classes A2Z system to enter your area and run a search for Lambeth Maths Tutors. Once you’ve chosen your tutor, make sure you ask for their local area so you can see how easy it will be to get to. However, with many Lambeth Maths tutors you’ll be pleased to know that they’re willing to travel to you!

Private Tuition at my place or the Maths tutor’s place?

So, where’s the best place to have your Lambeth Maths tuition? You have a few choices because you can have the tutor come to your home in Lambeth, try online lessons or travel to the tutor’s place or tuition centre. Convenience is normally at the top of people’s priority list but you also need to consider where you’ll learn best. Some people find it better to have tuition away from home as they can concentrate better. In this case you have the choice of going to the Maths tutor’s place in Lambeth or attending one of our listed Lambeth tuition centres. If you feel more comfortable at home or find travelling is going to be difficult, weigh up the options between the Maths tutor coming to your home in Lambeth or having online tuition.

  • Your home
  • Tutor’s home
  • Tuition Centre
  • Online

Basically, it’s a personal choice but before making that choice always remember that learning is the end goal so you must ask yourself “Where am I going to learn most?”.

Does the Maths tutor have the right experience for me?

No two Lambeth Maths tutors are the same and no two students are the same either, so it’s imperative you explain to your tutor in chat what you need to accomplish and share any challenges you are currently having. When you have your first Maths lesson in Lambeth it’s always best to look upon it as an exploratory meeting where both you and your Maths tutor can work out how best to help you. If in the unlikely situation the tutor feels they are unable to help, you will find that many tutors will tell you rather than wasting your time. Tutors take pride in being able to see improvements in their students and share in your success as your success is your tutor’s success too!

Private Lambeth Maths Tutor, Tutoring Agency or Tuition Centre?

There are three main choices when it comes down to getting extra tutoring and again it comes down to personal choice.

When choosing the best Lambeth Maths tutoring for you, we understand that pricing can be a factor. Private tutors can work out less expensive as they have less overheads but there are benefits for using tutoring agencies or Lambeth tuition centres. One of the main benefits is that you have more flexibility when it comes to changing your tutor or getting cover if and when your Maths tutor is unavailable because of holiday or sickness. We’ve also found that some people prefer a tuition centre as they find it easier to focus in a dedicated learning facility. It’s also worthwhile contemplating small Maths study groups as this can be very effective and can considerably cut costs for you.

At Classes A2Z you will find a multitude of solutions so have a look through the profiles and send some enquiries. Our advice is to send at least 2 different Lambeth members an enquiry so you can get faster answers and a better choice. Please bear in mind that the members may not always have the available time you’re looking for in Lambeth so sending an enquiry to more than one member is the best practice!

I’m an Oxford English graduate, and I’ve been working as a private tutor and schoolmaster since 2009 after several years as a strategy consultant. I teach English, Maths and French plus most other Common Entrance and GCSE/IGCSE subjects (and photography). I’m based in Putney and have given private lessons to 501 students of all ages, including some with dyslexia, autism, ADHD and other Special Educational Needs. I’ve taught Verbal and Non-verbal Reasoning to 53 pupils, Maths to 263 and English to 351. That includes 56 trainee teachers and 262 school entry candidates, mostly at 11+ and 13+, some of whom have now won places at schools such as Harrow, St Paul’s and Eton. I’ve taught 63 of my students online using Skype and carried out residential assignments in Belarus, Greece, Hong Kong, Kenya, Russia, Switzerland and Turkey.

I was Head of Maths at Wimbledon College for 20 years and have also taught at Dulwich College and Trinity School Croydon. I have written 5 maths textbooks, and have experience as A level examiner. In teaching I use fairly traditional methods, setting and marking homeworks and concentrating a good deal on exam technique and working through past papers. I believe it is very important for a tutor to have good personal relationships with students, and I always try to adopt a friendly, informal, non-critical approach, in which the student can feel relaxed and build up confidence. I have an excellent record of success in obtaining exam results.
