Martial Arts for Self-Defense

Yes, it is good to know how to defend yourselves but most instructors will tell you that there is no winner when it comes to standing toe to toe with an assailant and trying to beat them. The best self defence strategy is to always escape as fast as possible and run away. What martial arts will do, is help teach you how to escape, how to break a grip, possibly disable the assailant and then get out of there! One of the key factors to your escape is confidence in the knowledge that you CAN escape.

As a family ran business Walters Family school of Taekwondo aims to support local communities in providing structured sporting sessions for people of all ages to attend. After every session students feel a sense of achievement having worked hard in class. Young students feel a sense of community and family within the school. They train hard side-by-side with their peers and earn respect from both their senior grades and their junior grades as they work their way through the Taekwondo belt ranking system. Target setting and hard work ethic geared towards meeting personal targets are ingrained through the grading system and competition team selection system. All students have a friend to talk to within our school and a mentor to guide them. As a school we aim to provide more than just a class to keep people active. We aim to provide lessons where students will learn new things about the community in which they live. They will discover who they are, what they're capable of achieving, and what their roles are as positive role models within their local communities.
